It isn’t the idea that science may be wrong… it isn’t that science may not have all the answers… we all know that those are both certainties…
These people don’t care about furthering scientific thought, or giving students a viable curriculum to study… they are hoping to push an overtly religious message. Period.
This isn’t evangelism. It’s pure silliness perpetrated by the most extreme factions of the Christian community. This is pure fundamentalism. No different than the Islamist fundamentalism that is decried in the same extreme right Christian communities.

Well… finally.
A Pastor takes on the progressives in the Christian community to take back the church. For years, Christians that are not of the conservative mindset are roundly criticized within their own church communities and parishes. If you believe in an anti-war, anti-violence, and anti-discrimination expression of the faith, you are considered a liberal, and persona non-grata by the flock…
The main reason why I decided to leave the Roman Catholic Church, and make a journey to find another denomination was this exact situation. It wasn’t good enough for me to believe that abortion is morally questionable, and its practice is exploitive and dangerous. I had to vote for candidates in the political arena that were outwardly “Pro-life”, regardless of their positions on any other issue. There was no choice. That’s lunacy.
Now, a progressive Pastor has decided to turn the tables and ask why this aggressive, angry and violent brand of Christianity is being heralded as the “real thing.”
It’s time for the people who believe that Christ taught tolerance, love and peace to speak up. It’s time for those of us that believe that Christ’s behavior is what we need to imitate, need to stand up. It’s time for those of us that believe in the Prince of Peace to step up, speak from his Gospel teachings, and make certain that others listen. It’s now or never. Literally.
