Saving souls, one song at a time.

…sometimes all of our thoughts are misleading…

Hypocrisy, double-standards, etc… The Republican agenda revealed.

Okay, maybe I’m not revealing the Republican agenda, but it makes for an eye-catching headline!

When John Roberts was nominated for Chief Justice, the right-wing mouthpieces made a strong assertion that talking about his faith as a “litmus test” for his future action on the bench would be equal to religious bigotry. No questions could be asked that related to his faith, and discussing it at all was off-limits…

Now that Harriet Miers’ nomination is on life support before hearings even convene, the hypocrisy clicks into high gear. Now, the right-wing mouthpieces, especially those of the religious (read fundamentalist Christian) variety are making sure to point out her faith, her church, and her born-again status.

Now, can the Democrats on the Senate’s Judicial Committee ask questions about how her faith will affect her opinions on vital cases that may come before the Court? Of course not… because if they do, they’ll be harpooned by the right-wing meda (FauxNews) and the right-wing online blog machine.

Stay tuned folks… if Miers’ nomination actually makes it to committee hearings, the questioning will be very interesting… If, by chance, her nomination fails, expect the next nominee to be a complete wingnut…

African-Americans don’t like Dubya?!

A recent poll shows that only 2% of African-Americans questioned approve of the President’s performance.

I’m not surprised that Africian-Americans as a group dislike the President… but only 2%? That’s unbelievable.

Another fine job for Dubya!

Priceless. Totally Priceless

Isn’t this the truth?

It’s always amusing to listen to blowhards blather on about the sanctity of marriage, and the evils of same-sex marriage when they can’t figure out a way to keep their own homes in order.

Gingrich was always my favorite. Nothing like dumping your wife while she’s in the hospital under treatment for cancer. That’s the epitome of “sanctity” in marriage, isn’t it? :)

Senator Frist gets served?

Hmmm…

The Hammer is striking back at the DA that got him indicted on multiple “conspiracy” charges and campaign fund irregularities. What will the good doctor do?

It is quite possible that nothing will come of this, and no indictments will be handed down… but if this happens, the Republican leadership will be crippled in Congress. The House leadership and Senate leadership will both be highly suspect in light of these legal issues, and Democrats will have a gigantic opportunity in 2006 to begin the long climb uphill to political power.

Personally, I’d like to see a perfect split in power between the Democrats and Republicans on the hill. This would force some kind of cooperation and comprimise…. in a perfect world, of course. But since we don’t live in that perfect world, we’ll be stuck with a split in power, angry pols on both sides of the aisle, and a lame-duck President that will continue to drop like a rock.

We’re pretty screwed, aren’t we?
